The insect samples are raised, collected, and curated ethically by a professional supplier- mostly were naturally deceased (so it is possible that some kinds could be out of stock for a whole season). The clear resin I am using can last 20+ years (it will gradually get a light amber color after 10 years over time). Avoid direct sunlight exposure to maximize its lifetime.

There may be natural variations that are not product flaws. Such tiny variations are inherent in the manufacturing of handmade products.
